A busy Term 2

Over the past term Primary 6b have been extremely busy! We are currently working on our topic, World War I. We are interested to hear about our place in history and learn about the experiences of our ancestors who lived during this period in time. We have undertaken some research to find out the causes of WWI and the events that took place throughout. We hope that some of our family members and friends can help us by sharing any stories they may have about The Great War. Recently we worked with Starling Learning to begin designing and erecting a Sensory Garden in our school grounds. We planted shrubs that would appeal to our five senses. In our garden we have colourful pansies, a curry plant, ferns and many more! We also planted some bulbs which we hope will begin to grow in the Spring time. Along the grassy area we planted some holly bushes which will hopefully grow into beautiful hedges and attract lots of wildlife. Our Swimming lessons continue until mid December. We are all becoming stronger and more confident swimmers. Miss Paterson enjoys spectating. Especially when we are learning to dive! We will soon be assessed on how many metres we can swim and will hopefully have our badges and certificates soon. We were so excited when Miss Paterson brought a very special brown envelope into class one morning. It was our replies from our new French partner school in Lyon! Each of us have now been paired up with a pen pal to write to. We were just amazed at how beautiful their handwriting is. We think it’s the special paper they write on that helps! They use paper with squares and lines in the same jotter! Thank you to everyone who bought our Christmas Craft. We worked so hard to put these beautiful candle holders together for you. We hope you enjoy using your Christmas candles. From all in Primary 6b and Miss Paterson, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Remembrance Day Poppies

Today we made Remembrance Day poppies and wrote messages on the back for those who fought for our country in the War. As our topic is World War 1 we will be updating the blog with various activities.
